The primary reason for our national expansion is related to the work of UA with hotels and hospitality schools. We are gearing up to produce additional training content for both hospitality students and hotel/hospitality staff. With hotels in Florida and nationwide being heavily utilized by traffickers for transportation, exchange, and a place to conduct business—especially for sex-trafficking—UA (formerly Florida Abolitionist) has worked for over a decade to educate hospitality leaders about the problem and empower them to advocate for victims.
It's time for us to take things to the next level. Our in-person workshops throughout Florida are not enough. With the help of a few Orlando-based corporate sponsors, we have begun developing a training portal that will allow people to access our training content from their digital devices. But we need more funding to complete this project!
Hotel executives have made it clear they will not tolerate this illegal activity in their establishments and have welcomed the educational aid and assistance provided by UA. The national expansion and the development of our training content will allow this important movement to be implemented in Florida and other states and lead us to work with as many hotel groups as possible. We need more resources to reach hundreds of thousands of hotel employees.
